OUR MISSION

Helping Children and Families Dream and Achieve Beyond Their Circumstances

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Urban Neighborhood Initiative for Families and Youth (UNIFY) Child Placing Agency serves abused, neglected and delinquent youth.  UNIFY has designed several programs which utilize professional staff and community resources which are dedicated to providing quality care, treatment and the empowerment of youth and families.  The needs of the entire child are assessed; then intensive planning incorporates the specific program related to the individual needs addressing the mind, body and spirit. Each child is provided a family environment and is treated lovingly, respectfully, and without regards to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation.

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE UNIFY CHILD PLACING AGENCY

UNIFY Child Placing Agency understands that the commitment to foster and adopt a child comes with great rewards — and great challenges. That’s why we offer unparalleled support to our families every step of the way with a wide range of services, including:

  • Specialized trauma-informed training and 24-hour crisis intervention
  • Therapeutic counseling and in-home support
  • Resources for children’s activities
  • Financial assistance for each foster child in the home

OUR PROGRAMS

FOSTER CARE

Foster parents provide safe and loving homes for children who have been abused and neglected while the biological family is not able to care for them. Foster care is a temporary placement and at UNIFY, we aim for every biological family to have the opportunity for reunification.

ADOPTION

In the event that a child is unable to return home, we work to find the appropriate permanent home for the child. Frequently referred to as “foster to adopt” or “dual licensed”, many families decide to become licensed to provide foster care and verified to adopt children.

KINSHIP CARE

Kinship & Fictive Kinship Caregivers are families that have been approved by CPS and the courts to care for a child for whom they have an established relationship.  Families with a child in kinship care may become approved as foster and/or adoptive parents in order to receive benefits for the children in their care.

WHAT OUR FAMILIES THINK

“To have the opportunity to work with an agency that is supportive and cares about the needs of our foster children, as well as the needs of our family has been rewarding. They care and are there. We look forward to continuing to partner with UNIFY as foster parents.”

Foster Parent

“Parenting children that we didn’t birth has been challenging but the most rewarding thing my husband and I have done. From the training to open honest communication with the agency. We are happy to know they are right by our side when we need help. And our kids are flourishing as a result. ”
